Privacy Policy
Cinara is a streaming service for short dramas made by real actors. This policy explains what we collect when you use the Cinara app or cinaratv.com, why, and the choices you have. We wrote it in plain English on purpose.
What we collect
- Your account. Your email address (we sign you in with a one-time code, so there's no password), your username, and a profile photo if you add one.
- What you post. Comments, live-chat messages, likes and reports.
- Friends. Friend requests, friends and people you block. If you turn on "Share what I'm watching," your friends see the show and episode you're on. You can turn it off any time in Settings.
- What you watch. Which episodes you play and how many seconds you watch. This is how we pay the actors: each member's subscription is split across the shows they actually watched.
- Payments. Memberships and gifts are paid on cinaratv.com through Stripe. Stripe handles your card; we never see or store your full card number. We keep a record of what you bought, when, and any refund.
- Your age, for gifts. You must confirm you're 18 or older to send a gift during a live premiere.
- Your device. Basic technical information needed to stream video and keep the service secure, such as device type, app version and approximate playback quality. If you allow notifications, we keep a token to send premiere reminders.
The app asks for your photos only when you choose a profile picture, and your calendar only when you ask us to add a premiere to it. We don't use your camera, microphone, contacts or precise location.
How we use it
- To run your account, sign you in and stream episodes to you.
- To bill your membership and deliver gifts.
- To calculate and pay each actor's Cinara Share from real viewing.
- To power comments, live chat and friends, and to keep them safe: we review reports, remove content that breaks our rules, and may check profile photos automatically.
- To send premiere reminders and important account emails. We don't send marketing email unless you ask for it.
- To fix bugs, prevent fraud and improve Cinara.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for targeted advertising. We share only what's needed with companies that help us run Cinara:
- Supabase (accounts and database), Stripe (payments), Mux (video streaming), Resend (sign-in emails), and Apple and Google (app delivery and notifications).
- Your username, photo and what you post are visible to other Cinara users. Cast members can see gifts sent to them and who sent them.
- We'll disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect people's safety or Cinara's rights.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information until you delete your account. Payment records are kept as long as tax and accounting laws require, without your name attached once your account is gone. Viewing totals used to pay actors are kept until that quarter's pay is settled.
Your choices
- Delete your account in the app: Profile → Settings → Delete account. This cancels your membership, deletes your profile, photo, comments, chat, friends and watch history, and can't be undone.
- Stop sharing what you're watching in Settings, and turn notifications off in your phone's settings.
- Manage or cancel your membership at cinaratv.com/account.
- Ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, by emailing support@cinaratv.com. California residents have these rights under the CCPA, and we honor them for everyone.
Children
Cinara is for people 13 and older, and some shows are meant for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child has signed up, email us and we'll delete the account.
Security
Your data is encrypted in transit, video links expire after a few hours, and only a small team can access account data. No system is perfect, so tell us right away if you think your account has been misused.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
